Zenit makes a €50 million bid for Hulk

It looked as though Paris Saint-Germain had made the biggest splash on shelling out more than €60 million for Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic but Zenit Saint Petersburg has decided to make an even bigger impact on the market.

The Russian club is going all out and making a big effort to secure the services of Brazilian forward Hulk, who currently plays for Porto.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Zenit has offered the Portuguese club €50 million (half his buy-out clause) plus Bruno Alves. The Brazilian defender’s transfer from AEK Athens cost €22 million so the deal would be worth a total of €72 million.

Despite the offer, Porto would prefer Hulk to stay in Portugal with an increase in his current salary. However, the Brazilian wants to join the exodus of his compatriots who have crossed the pond to play in Europe like Oscar to Chelsea and Lucas Moura to PSG. There are others who could also be added to that list, such as Damiao.

The Guardian confirmed that Tottenham has launched a new offensive to sign the footballer from Sport Club Internacional in Porto Alegre.
