The Catalan club revealed the 19 million euro signing on their official Twitter account. |
Alex Song
is a Barcelona player. The Culés have agreed a 19 million euro deal with
Arsenal for the Cameroon midfielder. The Gunners announced earlier on their web
site that there is an agreement between the clubs and this has now been
confirmed by Barcelona via their Twitter account. Under the terms of the
contract Song will be playing in the scarlet and blue for the next five
seasons. This is the second major signing for the Catalan club after they
agreed terms with Jordi Alba at the start of the summer.
Song, who
can play as a central or defensive midfielder and has also played as a centre
back, will in principle not be a starting pick for Barcelona, with Busquets and
Mascherano ahead of him in his preferred positions. Despite this Barcelona and
Vilanova consider him to be of vital importance and have put an 80 million euro
buyout clause on him.
